AFTER A LANDMARK CAREER, GORDON NEW HANDS OVER THE HELM AT RONSON GEARS

Gordon New. Over 50 years of innovation and expansion

Gordon New is stepping down from his role as Managing Director of Ronson Gears to enjoy a well-earned retirement.

After all, Gordon has had an extremely busy and illustrious career. He has been instrumental in transforming the family business from being a small job shop into the market-leading gear manufacturer we know today.

Making a difference

Graduating as a Mechanical Engineer from Caulfield Institute of Technology (now Monash University), he began his career at Robert Bosch (Australia) as a cadet production engineer.

Later, working in Europe for Gebruder Boehringer. It provided the breadth of skill and knowledge for him to make a return to Australia and join Ronson Gears. He utilised his acquired knowledge and worked with a drive and commitment to institute some game changing processes that helped Ronson move to the top flight.

His background working in Europe gave him an insight into more innovative processes. After undertaking a fact finding mission to learn from the best in the gear industry, he began implementing this at Ronson.

An ISO Quality Management system, gear grinding capability and the acquisition of Australia’s first CNC gear hobbing machine were all milestones from this period.

An international presence

He also joined AGMA, the American Gear Manufacturers Association providing an international presence. Three years later, Gordon was invited to join AGMA’s Board of Directors in 2009.

Our international presence had also been formed forging links with Japan and becoming Australian distributor for KHK Stock Gears a division of Kohara Industry Co. Ltd.

Gordon also attended and addressed international conferences in Japan, Thailand, China, USA and many European countries.

Ronson Gears is now one of Australia’s leading gear manufacturers with ISO 9001:2015 and AS 9100D accreditations. As a result of building this international reputation we supply gears to both local and international clients in sectors as diverse as mining to aerospace.
