BOOM! Bloomberg reports world factories’ recovery gaining pace

Worldwide data from the Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI) tracked by IHS Markit show a decided uptick in the developed economies covered.

All make it over the 50 index points marker which indicates an expansion in these economies. Some economies are performing even more robustly nudging the 65 index points marker. See the graph in the link here.

Key take outs from Australian results:-

  • Private-sector second quarter growth was at a four year high.
  • April showed the fastest growth in private-sector jobs since the index started five years ago
  • New orders increased at the strongest pace for four years
  • International demand for Australian goods and services advanced for the first time in 15 months
