Ronson Gears – Reaching for the Stars with the Astronomical Society of Victoria

Ronson Gears played a small but significant role in providing a spur gear instrumental to the operation of a dish which is part of the Astronomical Society of Victoria’s new radio telescope.

The radio telescope was officially opened the other week by Ted Baillieu. The electronics have yet to be fitted to enable it to receive signals. However, you can see it operating from the attached time lapse clip. It shows how the dish can be steered to any point in the sky – thanks in some part to Ronson’s spur gear.
